HuHul-Kin Rays of the Sun
HuHul-Kin Rays of the Sun is a Minnesota based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to fund the creation of a safe house for women and children in crisis. The structure will also provide a workspace for the HuHul-Kin educational arts program that provides social, intellectual, and psychological support for disadvantaged children living in Puerto Morelos Mexico.
Maria’s Children International had been supporting the HuHul-Kin project until it closed its doors in May of 2011. Maria Yeliseyeva is continuing the Maria’s Children programs in Russia and can be reached at mariaschildren.ru.
HuHul-Kin – Rays of the Sun – through the direction of Angelica Estrada Rosas, creates for children a vision of a future filled with possibilities. She tutors challenged children teaching basic skills as well as life skills. Through myths and stories, she instills an appreciation for their rich, cultural heritage while she teaches them traditional Mexican crafts. This educational program helps them develop marketable skills.
Angelica’s dream of a safe haven for women and children in crisis will provide temporary shelter for women in need as they work to create a healthy, safe environment for themselves and their children.
